Sand, no Surf
Great Sand Dunes National Park.
As if all that sand at Death Valley was not enough.
Odd, I'd never heard of this place before.
Windy and cold night with an almost full moon, the dunes reflected an eerie light. Their forms muted but sill distinguishable in the cool blue/white light of the moon contrasted by the warm light of a long gone sunset.
I wished I could have photographed it but decided to take it all in and just enjoy a very special night and a very spiritual moment.
In the morning, pre-sunrise, I made the 2.5 mile walk up to one of the larger dunes. That was a huff. A lot like moon walking, one up, half back as I sank into the sand with each step.
